Position Title: Volunteer Coordinator
Overview: The Outreach House is seeking a friendly, professional, detail-oriented, self-starting team member to serve as Volunteer Coordinator.
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, scheduling, and supporting volunteers to help carry out the mission of The Outreach House. This role ensures that the diaper depot, food pantry, and clothing closet operate efficiently through volunteer engagement and coordination.

Employment Status: Part-Time; up to 20 hours per week

Role Responsibilities:
Volunteer Scheduling & Supervision
Oversee volunteers during shifts to ensure tasks are completed correctly and safely.
Align volunteer roles with pantry operational needs (intake, distribution, stocking, logistics, client support)
Create and manage weekly volunteer schedules to ensure adequate coverage for diaper distribution, food pantry operations, and clothing assistance programs.
Maintain accurate records of volunteer availability, attendance, and hours worked.
Serve as the point person for volunteer questions and troubleshoot issues in real time.
Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding
Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy to attract individuals, groups,
and community partners.
Screen, interview, and onboard volunteers to ensure appropriate placement across programs.
Conduct orientation and training sessions, providing clear guidelines, expectations, and role‑specific instruction.
Volunteer Engagement & Communication
Communicate regularly with volunteers to confirm shifts, share updates, and address
questions or concerns.
Foster a positive volunteer experience through recognition, relationship‑building, and ongoing support.
Develop strategies to retain long‑term volunteers and increase engagement across
programs.
Community Outreach & Representation
Build relationships with local schools, churches, civic groups, and businesses to promote volunteer opportunities.
Represent The Outreach House at community events, fairs, and networking meetings to increase awareness and attract volunteers.
Other Duties
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director to support the mission and daily operations of The Outreach House.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus.
Successful completion of background check.
Passion for serving children, youth, and families experiencing hardship.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Experience in volunteer management, nonprofit work, or community outreach preferred.
Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, volunteer management software, etc.).
Proficiency in Google Suite, with experience in QuickBooks and database management being highly desirable.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and stand for extended periods when assisting in the pantry and clothing closet.
